Beirut: From the floor of Parliament, Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab on Tuesday highlighted the significance of the current general policy debate, marking it as a rare opportunity for institutional dialogue in recent years. He warned that the prevailing deep divisions within the country are counterproductive and emphasized the necessity for constructive discourse.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Bou Saab raised concerns regarding the government's commitment to a vital clause in the Taif Accord. He questioned how the government has acted on its pledge, as stated in the National Reconciliation Document adopted in Taif, to take all necessary measures to liberate all occupied territories from Israeli control.
In addition, Bou Saab addressed the need for judicial reform, calling for the swift adoption of a draft law that is currently under review by the Administration and Justice Committee. He stated that reforming the judiciary is essential for restoring the state's integrity.
Furthermore, in addressing Education Minister Rima Karami, Bou Saab acknowledged the challenges of the past year, urging her to consider these difficulties while overseeing the correction of official exam results.
