Beirut: Minister of Culture, Dr. Ghassan Salam©, received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, in his office at the Sanayeh National Library. They discussed cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Egyptian Ambassador expressed the strong historical ties and common cultural grounds that link the two nations. He highlighted the focus on antiquities, mentioning that Lebanon is home to several Egyptian antiquities, which Lebanon is willing to return. Plans are underway to organize an event dedicated to returning these antiquities to Egypt, signifying a step towards enhanced bilateral relations. This move is expected to encourage other countries holding Lebanese antiquities to return them, promoting a cultural exchange that benefits both nations.
The Ambassador also addressed recent developments in Lebanon, particularly the Council of Ministers' decision to restrict weapons. He acknowledged the positive steps taken by the Lebanese state, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and collaboration in implementing these decisions. The efforts of President Joseph Aoun and the Lebanese government were noted as significant in advancing these discussions.
Furthermore, the Ambassador reiterated Egypt's supportive role in Lebanon, particularly in facing challenges such as arms control. Recent discussions between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized the shared concerns and regional impacts affecting both countries. Ambassador Moussa concluded by affirming the largely identical perspectives on major issues between Egypt and Lebanon, highlighting the opportunity for continued cooperation and dialogue.
