Riyadh: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council for 2026, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf chaired the first meeting of officials from international cooperation and international relations departments at GCC ministries of justice for 2026, held in Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Counsellor Dr. Mohammed Mujbil, Assistant Undersecretary for State Litigation and International Cooperation. Mohammed Jamal Sultan, Director of the Legislative Affairs and International Cooperation Directorate, represented Bahrain's Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf. Representatives of international cooperation departments from GCC justice ministries were also in attendance.
The discussions at the meeting covered several agenda items, including Bahrain's proposal on electronic linkage for judicial notifications and service of process. Oman's proposal on enhancing cooperation among GCC justice ministries and a draft of unified rules to combat cybercrime were also deliberated.
The meeting further addressed mechanisms to develop joint work, strengthen institutional cooperation, and enhance coordination among international cooperation departments across GCC member states.
