Berri Discusses Key Developments in Lebanon and Region with UK Defence Advisor and Political Figures

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with UK Defence Senior Advisor Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren and a military delegation at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, was also present. The meeting focused on the developments in Lebanon and the region, addressing political and field updates amidst ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon and its repercussions, along with discussions on bilateral relations.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri also engaged in discussions with former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister Elias El-Murr, where they examined the latest political and field developments and the issue of displaced persons.

In a separate meeting, Berri addressed the displacement dossier and the amnesty law with a parliamentary delegation. The delegation included MPs Nabil Badr, Sajih Attieh, Ahmad Khair, Bilal Hashimi, Mohammad Suleiman, and Haidar Nasser, alongside Speaker Berri's political advisor, Ali Hassan Khalil, from the "Development and Liberation" parliamentary bloc.

After the meeting, MP Nabil Badr highlighted the discussion on national issues concerning the Lebanese people during this critical period. Badr emphasized the importance of Speaker Berri's role as a mediator among Lebanese factions, promoting dialogue and understanding. The focus was on the displaced persons' issue, stressing the need for their accommodation within legal frameworks to preserve Lebanese society's particularity and maintain civil peace.

Badr also mentioned the draft general amnesty law, explaining its national and humanitarian significance. The law aims to address social and humanitarian issues, offering hope to a broad segment of Lebanese society while ensuring justice and fairness, preserving state authority.

Badr concluded by affirming Lebanon's status as a homeland for all citizens, which can only be governed through consensus and unity.
