DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, has officially launched the first phase of the "Dubai Sky Map." This new platform is designed to enhance the supervision of civil aviation activities in Dubai's airspace by consolidating all related maps into a single system. According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority's (DCAA) participation in GITEX Global 2024, which is being held from October 14th to 18th at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Dubai Sky Map integrates various services on a unified platform, including real-time tracking of air transport vehicles and cranes, which aims to improve the safety and efficiency of air operations in the emirate. The platform is described as a vital tool for managing the airspace over Dubai, offering live broadcasts of data related to air transport movements and other services. This initiative is part of DCAA's broader vision to foster innovation and ensure future readiness within the aviation sector. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director-General of DCAA, emphasized the importance of the new platform, stating that it represents a significant advancement in promoting innovation in aviation and enhancing industry safety. "The launch of the first phase of the Dubai Sky Map underscores a commitment to promoting innovation in the aviation sector and marks a significant step towards a safer and more sustainable future for the industry," Lengawi said. He highlighted that safety and security are foundational aspects of all DCAA operations, which drive the development of solutions that align with global trends and best practices. Additionally, Saeed Belhoul, Acting Director of DCAA's Information Technology Department, commented on the significance of the Dubai Sky Map, noting that it aligns with DCAA's vision to drive progress and meet future needs by merging all service-related maps into a s ingle, interactive platform. The event also serves as a platform for DCAA to showcase a range of advanced systems and projects under the Dubai Digital platform, aimed at improving work quality and raising leadership standards in aviation management. These initiatives support the sustainable development and quality of life improvements in Dubai, aligning with the government's vision to digitize all aspects of life in the emirate and enhance its status as a global aviation hub.
