Amman Condemns Israeli Strikes on Gaza Hospitals, Urges International Intervention

AMMAN: Jordan has issued a strong condemnation against recent attacks by Israeli forces on hospitals in the Gaza Strip, denouncing the actions as violations of international law, including the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949. The attacks have drawn criticism for their impact on civilian infrastructure and essential services in the region. According to Kuwait News Agency, Sufian Qudah, spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, expressed his country's firm rejection of what he described as "barbaric" assaults on medical facilities within Gaza, specifically naming the Indonesian Hospital, Al-Awda Hospital, and Al-Shifa Medical Hospital. The statement emphasized Jordan's condemnation of the Israeli occupation's broader actions against civilian targets and the ongoing destruction of essential infrastructure providing key services to Palestinians. The spokesperson further called on the international community, with a particular appeal to the United Nations Sec urity Council (UNSC), to take decisive steps to halt the violence and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians. The appeal underscores the urgency of international intervention in light of the escalating situation. Reports indicate that the Israeli forces' attacks earlier in the day targeted Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip, leading to significant damage and power outages, effectively besieging the medical facilities and exacerbating the humanitarian situation on the ground.
