Beirut: President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, received Banque du Liban Governor Karim Souaid at Baabda Palace and congratulated him on his election as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Aoun described the achievement as highly significant amid Lebanon's sensitive economic recovery phase and financial reform efforts. He emphasized that this election reflects strong Arab confidence in Lebanese expertise and reinforces Lebanon's active role in regional financial institutions.
For his part, Souaid expressed his gratitude to the president and affirmed that he would carry Lebanon's interests into his new role. He committed to working towards strengthening ties with Arab financial institutions to support Lebanon's economic recovery and efforts to restore confidence in the national economy amid the ongoing repercussions of the war.
