Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday met with Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nasreddine, who briefed him on the country's healthcare situation and the ministry's efforts to expand medical and pharmaceutical coverage and update treatment protocols by over 400%. Discussions also touched on the current political situation ahead of Thursday's Cabinet session.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun also met with MP Dr. Haidar Nasser, with discussions touching on the current situation, political developments, and positions on the anticipated constitutional entitlements, particularly the upcoming parliamentary elections. Following the meeting, MP Nasser voiced full support for President Aoun's national positions regarding the current challenges. MP Nasser also indicated that the discussion "also addressed the needs of the northern region in general and Tripoli in particular, and the rights of the Alawite community in public positions and political life."
Additionally, President Aoun met with a delegation of businessmen from Tripoli, with whom he discussed the needs of the northern region in general, and the city of Tripoli in particular. The President of the Republic also received Dr. Antonio Farah, who headed a delegation that included a number of lawyers, psychologists, and media professionals. The delegation presented the President with a copy of a new, unified personal status law proposal registered in the Parliament.
At Baabda Palace, President Aoun also welcomed Political Analyst and former Head of the Middle East Institute in Washington, Dr. Paul Salem, with discussions reportedly touching on the country's general situation and the latest regional developments.
