AUBMC Launches CAR-T Cell Therapy Program, Achieves Milestone in Cancer Treatment

Beirut: The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) has successfully launched its Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T Cell Therapy Program, marking a significant advancement in personalized cancer treatment in Lebanon. This breakthrough comes as the institution successfully treated its first patient with chemotherapy-resistant lymphoma, underscoring AUBMC's commitment to innovative cancer care.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the CAR-T Cell Therapy Program at AUBMC involves the local production of CAR-T cells, which are then subjected to a quality check before being infused into the patient. This process culminates with the confirmation of tumor response, indicating a successful treatment. AUBMC President Fadlo R. Khuri emphasized the transformative nature of this achievement, highlighting the university's dedication to excellence and impactful specialization.
