Beirut: President Joseph Aoun conducted a series of significant meetings at Baabda Palace on Monday, addressing a range of national, diplomatic, and professional issues. The discussions highlighted Lebanon's internal affairs and its international relations, underscoring the importance of cooperation and development.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun began the day by meeting with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri. The meeting, which coincided with the Feast of the Virgin Mary, focused on the country's general situation, especially developments in the South following the latest Cabinet session. Speaker Berri expressed optimism about the country's future, attributing this to the blessings of the Virgin Mary.
In a diplomatic engagement, President Aoun met with Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Lebanon, Rasul Jumaly, accompanied by embassy adviser Yermek Sydykbekov and CCC Director General Wajdi Maalouf. Their discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation. Ambassador Jumaly highlighted the positive contributions of the Lebanese community in Kazakhstan and expressed a desire to deepen bilateral ties further.
President Aoun also engaged with the Board of the Association of Management and Development Consultants, led by Dr. Mohannad Al-Asaad. The delegation shared their achievements, including memorandums of understanding with chambers of commerce, international recognition for certifying Lebanese consultants, and participation in global quality standards. President Aoun commended their efforts and emphasized the importance of investing in national expertise and supporting the establishment of a National Institute of Consultants.
In another meeting, President Aoun received a delegation from the Syndicate of Social Work Specialists, headed by Nadia Badran. The delegation outlined the syndicate's history, training programs, and a proposed law for professional regulation. President Aoun expressed support for their initiatives, stressing the importance of ethics alongside scientific knowledge in all professional fields.
The President later honored State Council Judge Karl Irani by awarding him the National Order of the Cedar at the rank of Officer, in recognition of his anti-corruption efforts acknowledged by the United Nations and the United States.
In conclusion, President Aoun met Lebanon's new Ambassador to Morocco, Ali Daher, offering guidance and wishing him success in enhancing bilateral relations between Lebanon and Morocco.
