The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Abdoulaye Bathily, met yesterday with Adel Karmous, Waheed Burshan, Salah Mito, and Nazar Kaawan, Members of the High Council of State (HCS) representing the Consensus Block. The meeting discussed the current political stalemate in Libya and explored ways and means to overcome the political deadlock. Bathily urged the members to continue seeking consensus within the HCS, the House of Representatives, and the broader Libyan political spectrum, including key actors, on implementing electoral laws and forming a unified government to lead Libya towards elections.
