Beirut: Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday emphasized that national unity and civil peace are "a red line" that must not be breached, warning that any attempt to undermine them benefits Israeli objectives. During a meeting with a delegation from "Kellouna Beirut" led by former minister Mohammad Choucair, Berri highlighted the importance of maintaining a shared national identity and cautioned against internal strife.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Berri expressed gratitude towards Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and the north for their role in hosting displaced citizens during recent conflicts. He also condemned the practice of celebratory gunfire, stating that it poses a danger to lives and property while dishonoring the memory of those who have fallen.
In separate meetings, Speaker Berri engaged with Dr. Alaa Moussa, the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, discussing the latest political and field developments. The discussions took place against the backdrop of a newly enforced ceasefire in Lebanon, focusing on the country's current situation and the broader regional context.
Additionally, Berri met with Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, at Ain El-Tineh. Following this, he received Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser El-Din, who provided an update on Lebanon's healthcare and hospital sectors, and detailed the human and material losses resulting from recent Israeli aggression.
