President Joseph Aoun Engages in Security Talks with Defense and Interior Ministers

Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Friday held a meeting with the Minister of National Defense Major General Michel Menassa at Baabda Palace to discuss the security situation in Lebanon, especially in the southern regions, following a recently enacted ceasefire.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions were centered on maintaining stability in the south of the country amid the new ceasefire that took effect at midnight. Additionally, President Aoun had a meeting with Minister of Interior and Municipalities Brigadier General Ahmad Hajjar, where they focused on security concerns given the latest developments.

Minister Al-Hajjar, after the meeting, emphasized the President's proactive role in securing the ceasefire and halting the ongoing conflict in Lebanon. He highlighted the President's collaboration with both the Prime Minister and the Speaker of Parliament, and acknowledged the support from international allies in achieving the current peace. Al-Hajjar expressed optimism for Lebanon's future, stressing the importance of national unity and governmental efforts in improving the country's situation.
