China Urges Unity Among Palestinian Factions and Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

BEIJING: China has emphasized the urgency of implementing United Nations Security Council resolutions to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, following the assassination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. According to Kuwait News Agency, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning addressed the media during a press conference, stressing the importance of civilian protection, enabling humanitarian access, and preventing further escalation of conflict. Mao reiterated China's consistent support for Palestinian internal reconciliation, labeling it a crucial step towards resolving the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution and achieving enduring peace and stability in the Middle East. Mao also called on Palestinian factions to unify regardless of changing circumstances, dismissing the notion that the "Beijing Statement," an agreement reached by 14 Palestinian factions to end division in the Chinese capital last July, had lost its significance following Sinwar's death.
