EDL Warns of Fuel Shortage as Diesel Shipment Faces Delay

Beirut: Electricit du Liban on Thursday announced that a diesel shipment scheduled for 5-8 December has been delayed, with arrival now expected on 12 December at noon. The delay sharply depleted fuel reserves at the Zahrani and Deir Ammar plants, bringing them close to exhaustion.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, EDL said the situation is entirely beyond its control and that it has taken emergency measures to prolong generation and maintain electricity for vital facilities. This includes forcibly shutting down one unit at Zahrani after Wednesday's peak and operating only one gas unit and half a steam unit at Deir Ammar until the shipment is received and unloaded.
