France Secures $1 Billion in Aid for Lebanon at Paris Conference

Paris: The international community has pledged a total of $1 billion in aid to Lebanon, with $800 million earmarked for humanitarian assistance and $200 million for the Lebanese armed forces, as announced by Jean-Noel Barrot, the French Foreign Minister, during a conference in Paris. The gathering, convened by President Emmanuel Macron, aimed to address Lebanon's ongoing crises through both immediate aid and longer-term diplomatic efforts. According to Kuwait News Agency, Barrot emphasized the necessity of a diplomatic resolution in Lebanon and cautioned against limiting responses to only humanitarian and security measures. In his closing remarks at the Paris conference, he detailed the collective financial commitments made by international participants, underscoring the need for sustained engagement beyond financial aid. Previously, Macron had revealed that a separate sum of 100 million euros, equivalent to $107 million, had been allocated to support Lebanese citizens impacted by the conflict involving Isr aeli forces. The conference saw active participation from 70 delegations and 15 international organizations, all working towards a sustainable diplomatic and humanitarian strategy for Lebanon.
