Interior Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Holding Parliamentary Elections on Schedule

Beirut: Interior Minister, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, on Wednesday said in an interview with "The Voice of All Lebanon" radio that the ministry was fully committed to implementing the law regarding the holding of parliamentary elections on schedule in May 2026.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Hajjar noted that this position was reaffirmed by President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun from Bkerke on the sidelines of the Christmas Mass. During this event, President Aoun announced, in agreement with the prime minister and the speaker of parliament, that the elections will take place on time, a commitment upheld by the Interior Ministry.

Al-Hajjar stressed that the ministry has no intention of proposing any postponement of the elections, whether for technical or other reasons, emphasizing that all necessary preparations are underway to ensure the vote is held as scheduled. He underlined respect for legal deadlines, including the call for electoral bodies 90 days ahead of polling day, and expressed hope that the new year will bring good fortune to all Lebanese.
