Beirut: The Interior Ministry on Monday announced its decision to prohibit two planned gatherings outside the Beirut Palace of Justice, citing the organizers' failure to secure the necessary authorization.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, the ministry's statement highlighted that the protests were being promoted on social media platforms. However, the organizers had not followed the procedure of submitting prior notification to the Beirut governor, as required under Decision No. 1024 dated March 29, 2006. The ministry emphasized the need to maintain internal stability during what it described as a sensitive period, which demands increased awareness and national responsibility.
The responsibility of implementing this decision has been assigned to the Beirut governor and the Internal Security Forces, with additional coordination with the Lebanese Army as required.
