Japan, China, South Korea Plan for Trilateral Summit Amid Strengthened Cooperation


TOKYO: Senior officials from Japan, China, and South Korea have agreed to work towards holding a trilateral summit at the earliest convenient time, as stated by the Japanese Foreign Ministry. The decision was made during a meeting in Tokyo, marking a significant step in strengthening cooperation among the three nations.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Japan’s Senior Deputy Foreign Minister Takehiro Funakoshi, China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, and South Korea’s Deputy Foreign Minister Chung Byung-won praised the progress made in trilateral cooperation since the revitalization of the Japan-China-South Korea process at the previous summit held in Seoul in May. This meeting was the first trilateral summit since December 2019 and highlighted the nations’ commitment to working together on shared challenges.

The officials confirmed their intention to enhance future-oriented cooperation, focusing on common issues such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, and the low birthrate and aging society. Fun

These discussions will include the six areas of cooperation identified at the May summit, covering economy and trade, sustainable development, and people-to-people exchanges.
