Jordan and China Enhance Partnership in Housing and Infrastructure

Amman: Jordan and China are set to deepen their cooperation in the sectors of housing, construction, and contracting, following discussions between Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Saman, and Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Chen Chuandong, in Amman on Monday. The talks focused on leveraging Chinese expertise and funding to boost Jordan's development projects and infrastructure capabilities. According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Abu Saman praised China's ongoing support, notably mentioning the recently completed Salt-Al-Aridah road expansion, which was primarily financed by China. The project, which concluded last May, cost around JD25.8 million, with JD22.5 million covered by a Chinese grant. This development is part of a broader initiative by Jordan to enhance its infrastructure with international assistance, particularly from China. During the meeting, Abu Saman highlighted the ministry's interest in tapping into Chinese expertise to train its staff and improve service delivery in Jordan. On the other side, Ambassador Chen commended the efforts of the Jordanian ministry in enhancing the efficiency of road and infrastructure projects across the country. He expressed optimism about the future of Sino-Jordanian collaborations in these sectors. The meeting concluded with the signing of certificates of completion for the Salt-Al-Aridah Road project, symbolizing the successful cooperation between the two nations and paving the way for future projects.
