Kuwait Medical Complex Inaugurated in Pakistan’s Skardu City

SKARDU: The Humanitarian Charity Society has officially launched the Kuwait Medical Complex (KMC), a modern 100-bed hospital in Skardu, located in Pakistan's Gilgit Baltistan region. The facility aims to enhance healthcare access for local residents, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between Kuwait and Pakistan. According to Kuwait News Agency, the inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday, with several notable figures in attendance, including Abdul Ilah M.R. Marafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors. In his speech, Marafie expressed gratitude to the people of Kuwait and the Pakistani government for their support in bringing the project to fruition. He emphasized the foundation's commitment to improving education and health services in the region as a means to alleviate poverty. Marafie highlighted the foundation's longstanding connection with Gilgit Baltistan, referencing the establishment of a hostel in Karachi to facilitate quality education for students from the region. He also menti oned the opening of the first hospital in Mehdiabad in 2006, which continues to serve women's health needs. The late Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was acknowledged as the first donor to the KMC, playing a crucial role in its development. The Governor of Gilgit Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, also addressed the gathering, expressing appreciation for Kuwait's humanitarian contributions and pledging full support for the hospital's operations. He recalled the 2014 groundbreaking ceremony and lauded the foundation's perseverance in completing the project. Shah emphasized the enduring bond between the people of Pakistan and Kuwait, strengthened by such acts of kindness. The KMC provides a range of medical services, including a state-of-the-art operation theater, a fully equipped laboratory, diagnostic services, a pharmacy, and emergency care. It stands as one of the largest hospitals in the area, meeting the growing healthcare demands of the region. Local resident Dilshad Hussain, a patient at the hospital, expressed gratitude for the free treatment he received and praised the hospital management. He thanked the people of Kuwait for their generosity and prayed for the continued development and humanitarian efforts of the State of Kuwait.
