Beirut: Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Monday met with General Jasper Jeffers, co-chair of the mechanism monitoring the ceasefire, at the Grand Serail. U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, was also present during the talks, which focused on the mission of the Quintet Committee overseeing the truce. Mikati underscored the "need for full adherence to the ceasefire, the prevention of security violations, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese occupied territories." According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting with the monitoring committee highlights the ongoing efforts to ensure stability and security in the region. The discussions were aimed at reinforcing the significance of maintaining the ceasefire and addressing any potential breaches that could escalate tensions. Mikati's emphasis on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories further underscores the Lebanese government's stance on sovereignty and territorial integrity. Separately, the Prime Ministe r convened an organizational meeting for the High Relief Commission with newly appointed acting Secretary-General Brigadier General, Bassam Nabulsi, and outgoing Secretary-General Major General, Mohammad Khair. These discussions reportedly reflect the government's continued focus on addressing security and humanitarian challenges amidst heightened tensions. The transition within the High Relief Commission is part of broader efforts to enhance organizational effectiveness in response to the current challenges facing Lebanon.
