Morcos Signs MoU to Enhance Media’s Role in Environmental Awareness, Engages with Key Delegations

Beirut: Minister of Information, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, hosted a series of meetings aimed at advancing Lebanon's media landscape and its engagement with crucial societal issues. Among the notable encounters was a meeting with former MP Elie Marouni at the Ministry, where Marouni commended Minister Morcos for his effective leadership across platforms like Tele Liban, Radio Lebanon, and the National News Agency.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Marouni emphasized the necessity of a governance structure rooted in law and justice, aligning with Minister Morcos's legal expertise. Their dialogue covered the state's authority over its territory and decision-making processes concerning Lebanon's affairs.

In a significant move, Minister Morcos and Malek Ghandour, leading a delegation from the "Lebanese Environmental Gathering," signed a memorandum of understanding to bolster the role of environmental media in spotlighting ecological issues. This agreement underscores a commitment to leveraging media platforms for environmental advocacy.

Further discussions were held with May Makhzoumi, President of the Makhzoumi Foundation, focusing on potential collaborations with the Ministry of Information, particularly Radio Lebanon. Makhzoumi highlighted previous project proposals to Tele Liban, including training programs and equipment enhancements, signaling ongoing engagement between the Foundation and media entities.

In another development, Minister Morcos convened with Georges Khoueiry, President of the Lebanese Information and Technology Syndicate, and others. They announced that proceeds from Le Grand Spectacle would support the computerization of the Ministry of Information, in partnership with the Syndicate of Information and Technology.

Additionally, a delegation from the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE), led by Executive Director Diana Al-Baba, discussed a cooperation memorandum with Minister Morcos. This initiative aims to distribute awareness materials for the upcoming elections, encouraging citizen participation both as candidates and voters.

Concluding his meetings, Minister Morcos engaged with former minister Walid Nassar to discuss the prevailing general situation, reflecting the Ministry's ongoing dialogue with key stakeholders across various sectors.
