Oman strongly condemns tearing of copy of Holy Quran

The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its strong denunciation and condemnation after an extremist tore a copy of the Holy Quran in the city of The Hague, in the Netherlands. The Sultanate said that such actions provoke Muslims’ feelings and incite violence and hatred.

In a statement issued by the the Foreign Ministry in Muscat today, Oman repeated its calls for concerted international efforts to consolidate the values of tolerance, coexistence and respect among nations and peoples of different cultures. It reiterated Oman’s stance that all acts that promote extremism and hatred and desecrate religions and peoples’ beliefs should be criminalised.
