Beirut: Parliamentary committees and ministerial visits highlighted Lebanon's political and economic agenda today.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Committee on National Economy, Trade, Industry, and Planning convened at 9:30 am, chaired by MP Farid Al-Boustani, followed by the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Committee meeting under MP Fadi Alameh at 10:30 am. Both sessions took place on the third floor of the Offices Building, focusing on national economic strategies and international relations.
In the realm of ministerial activities, Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny conducted a field tour beginning at Beirut Port alongside a high-level Emirati delegation led by Abdullah Nasser Lootah. The delegation then proceeded to Beirut Airport, emphasizing aviation safety and arrival areas as part of broader bilateral cooperation efforts. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar, EU Ambassador Sandra De Waele, and ISF chief Maj. Gen. Raed Abdullah inaugurated the Juvenile Offenders Center in Al-Warar at 10:00 am.
Health Minister Dr. Rakan Nasreddine, accompanied by an Emirati delegation, visited Rafik Hariri University Hospital at noon to evaluate support needs. On the political front, the 'Sovereign Front for Lebanon' held a press conference at its Sodeco headquarters, addressing the issue of Hezbollah's arms.
The day's schedule also included significant cultural events, beginning with the opening of the 'Life and Home 2025' interior design fair by Economy Minister Dr. Amer Al-Bassat at Forum de Beyrouth at 4:00 pm. At 6:00 pm, the Gebran National Committee hosted the 'Gebran National Dictation' competition at the National Library, under the patronage of President Joseph Aoun. Concurrently, Culture Minister Dr. Ghassan Salameh and Indian Ambassador Mohammad Noor Rahman Sheikh unveiled a statue of Indian philosopher Rabindranath Tagore at the same venue.
Later in the evening, Rotaract Beirut, in collaboration with AFEL, IDRAAC, and MindSpace, launched the book 'Bukra A7la' at MindSpace, Furn El Chebbak, featuring a panel discussion on childhood PTSD. Spain's Embassy, in cooperation with the Lebanese Culture Ministry and National Conservatory, hosted a Spanish guitar concert by maestro Jos© Mara Gallardo del Rey at the Nicolas Sursock Museum at 8:30 pm, marking the first of two performances.
