SEC Reviews Report on Supplementary Grant for Retirees in Sharjah

Sharjah: At the Sharjah Ruler's Office, under the chairmanship of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, the Sharjah Executive Council convened to discuss various governmental oversight and enhancement initiatives. According to Emirates News Agency, the Council's session focused on examining a report regarding the supplementary grant provided to retirees. This grant targets retirees from federal entities, local government bodies of other emirates, or those who were in the private sector but are registered in Sharjah. The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure that these retirees receive a minimum salary supplement of AED17,500 to maintain a respectable standard of living. The report highlighted that the supplementary grant has benefited 5,118 retirees, with expenditures exceeding AED473 million. The council reviewed detailed statistics, comparisons, and proposals, aiming to further enhance the financial and social well-being of this demographic, ensuring stability and support for the retirees and their families. Additionally, the meeting covered preparations for the 53rd National Day celebrations in Sharjah. The Council examined plans for various events, exhibitions, and educational sessions designed to engage all community segments, emphasizing the national identity among the youth. The celebrations will reflect the themes of the "Year of Sustainability," a state-wide initiative set for 2024, focusing on sustainable development and environmental stewardship. The Council stressed the importance of the National Day activities to honor the UAE's founding leaders and celebrate the achievements of the union, fostering a sense of pride and unity among citizens.
