BEIRUT: An aid ship from the United Arab Emirates carrying 2,000 tonnes of relief supplies arrived at Beirut Port as part of the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign, which began earlier this month. The initiative aims to support Lebanon amid its ongoing crisis, in accordance with directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other key leaders. According to Emirates News Agency, the shipment is part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian assistance to Lebanon. Sultan Al Shamsi, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, stated that the aid package consists of 1,000 tonnes of food supplies and 1,000 tonnes of relief and shelter equipment. This delivery brings the total aid sent by the UAE to Lebanon to 2,610 tonnes. The campaign, launched on October 4, underscores the UAE's commitment to supporting Lebanon during these challenging times. It has involved the dispatch of 14 aircraft, some in collaboration with international organisations s uch as the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, UNHCR, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Additionally, the campaign has gathered 1,300 tonnes of relief supplies through contributions from 24 Emirati organisations. Thousands of volunteers, including both citizens and residents, have participated in the initiative, demonstrating the UAE's dedication to humanitarian aid and cooperation.
