Kuwait Enhances Infrastructure and Security Measures, Engages in International Diplomacy and Sports

KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti government has embarked on a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure, bolstering security, and strengthening international relations, according to recent announcements. Key topics discussed by Kuwaiti ministers included measures to combat drug smuggling, preparations for the upcoming Gulf Cup tournament, and significant road maintenance projects. According to Kuwait News Agency, during their weekly session, Kuwaiti ministers focused on intensifying efforts to prevent drug trafficking into the nation. They also reviewed the country's readiness for the forthcoming Gulf Cup tournament and discussed the overhaul of major roads in anticipation of the winter season. In a move to improve infrastructure, Kuwait has signed 18 agreements with both local and foreign companies for the maintenance of highways and major roads, following the approval from the gov ernment to initiate these agreements. In international affairs, Kuwait's engagement was highlighted during a football match where the Kuwait national team drew 2-2 with the Palestinian team in the fourth round of Group B AFC Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, held at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.
