Beirut: Syria today is tearing out a page from its painful past: Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa affirmed that "Syria today is shaking off a dark burden and tearing out a page from its painful past, to embark on a path of development, reconstruction, and rebuilding."

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the President addressed the Syrian people, stating, "Great people of Syria, you have done it again. The sanctions have been lifted and the restrictions removed, and I ask God Almighty to help us serve you." Al-Sharaa expressed his "deepest gratitude to US President Donald Trump and all the friendly and supportive countries that stood by Syria."

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued an official update to its sanctions lists on Monday, announcing the removal of Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. This decision followed the completion of the legal procedures related to congressional review without any objections, as reported by 'SANA' news agency.
