Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday concluded a meeting with the Quintet Committee, during which discussions focused on current developments and Lebanon's approach to managing the escalating situation.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Egypt's Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, stated that talks addressed efforts to contain tensions, the role of the Quintet Committee, and mechanisms to prevent further harm to Lebanon. Discussions also covered the Lebanese Army's upcoming responsibilities and measures required from the state.
Moussa reaffirmed full support for the Lebanese state and Cabinet decisions, rejecting any action outside state legitimacy and stressing that diplomacy remains the safest path to safeguarding Lebanon's security and sovereignty. Moreover, Moussa confirmed continued support for the Lebanese Army and noted that the international conference to support it in France will be held when conditions allow.
Moussa added that all parties back the state's decision, while responsibility for addressing continued rocket fire rests with the Lebanese Army, which President Aoun confirmed is proceeding with the second phase of its plan without retreat.
