BRICS Issues Joint Statement on Military Strikes in Iran and Middle East Security Tensions

Beirut: BRICS has released a joint statement expressing grave concern over the recent military strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which began on 13 June 2025. The organization stated that these actions violate international law and the United Nations Charter, escalating the security situation in the Middle East.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, BRICS highlighted the unpredictable consequences of rising tensions for international peace, security, and the global economy. The statement emphasized the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate the situation and resolve differences peacefully. It also expressed concern over attacks on peaceful nuclear installations, urging adherence to international law and International Atomic Energy Agency resolutions.

BRICS underscored the importance of protecting civilian lives and infrastructure in compliance with international humanitarian law. The organization extended condolences to the victims' families and expressed solidarity with affected civilians. The statement reaffirmed BRICS's commitment to promoting international peace and fostering diplomacy and dialogue for long-term regional stability. It also emphasized the necessity of establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
