Egypt Receives UNESCO Delegation to Transfer Pioneering Egyptian Knowledge Bank Experience


Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO stressed the important role of UNESCO in promoting international cooperation in the field of higher education, through developing policies and setting international standards, exchanging experiences and knowledge, and supporting scientific research and innovation. He highlighted the ministry’s interest in supporting youth, in the field of scientific research, through many concerned bodies that work under the umbrella of the Ministry, including the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. In addition to that, the Ministry provids all forms of technical support and funding necessary for young researchers.

In the same context, a meeting was held regarding transferring the Egyptian experience concerning the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to UNESCO to work on benefiting from it and disseminating it to the member states of the international organization. The meeting was attended by Dr. Gina Al-Feqi, Acting P
resident of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Abeer Al-Shater, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs and Supervisor of the Knowledge Bank, Mr. Mark West, representing the future of education and innovation team in the Education Sector at UNESCO, Ms. Ola Lawrence, Advisor to the Knowledge Bank, and Dr. Sherif Salah, Education and Translation Program Specialist at the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO. The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, the UNICEF Office in Cairo, and the Knowledge Bank and Academy staff, at the headquarters of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.
