Google Implements Virtual View Project Covering Oman Roads

Acting in cooperation with the National Survey Authority and the Ministry of Defence, Google company began implementing a project to cover the roads of the Sultanate of Oman with the Virtual Street View feature. The project is being carried out with the support and supervision of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The service offers innovative experience to users, allowing them to use panoramic images to explore main streets and cities of Oman. The users can now virtually roam Oman’s physical map using a 360-degree angle.

The project, which runs until 2025, will be implemented in two phases: The first includes the cities of Muscat, Sohar and Salalah, and the second covers other wilayats.

The project will help users organize trips and visits. The users can now explore tourist attractions, important landmarks and entertainment areas prior to physically setting out on their journeys.
