Mahfoud Urges Caution After Suspension of International Peacekeeping Operations in Lebanon

Beirut: Change Movement party head, Attorney Elie Mahfoud, indicated today via "X" that extreme alertness prevails on the internal scene due to the cessation of operations by the international peacekeeping force in Lebanon after 47 years, with no signs so far of alternatives that the Security Council might propose.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mahfoud expressed concerns that this situation could lead Lebanon into an additional crisis. He emphasized the necessity for a gradual and phased withdrawal, or, if that's not feasible, the replacement of current forces with another international contingent.

Mahfoud further highlighted the importance of a transformative approach in the operations of the Lebanese army. He outlined several key areas for development, including opening the doors to volunteering, offering competitive salaries to soldiers, and providing comprehensive social and medical services. Moreover, he advocated for equipping the army with the latest military and logistical technologies through support from the United Nations.
