Doha: Information Minister, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, conveyed in an interview with the Lebanese Television Channel during the Doha Forum that the event serves as a platform to engage with numerous Arab and foreign officials to clarify Lebanon's official stance and government efforts.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Morcos emphasized the recent initiative by the President of the Republic to appoint Ambassador Simon Karam as the head of the Lebanese negotiating delegation. This move has enhanced Lebanon's negotiating position, supported by the delegation's military expertise.
Morcos further elaborated on the army's significant efforts, particularly its deployment south of the Litani River, and the ongoing challenges it faces. Despite encountering numerous obstacles, the army remains committed to its strategic plan.
Discussions were also held with various officials, including American envoy Tom Barrack, addressing the challenges impeding the army's operations. Nevertheless, the army continues to advance its mission.
The Information Minister highlighted meetings with foreign MPs who occupy crucial roles in their respective countries' foreign affairs and finance committees. These discussions aimed to communicate Lebanon's position and the President's initiatives to prevent conflict and achieve stability in the southern region.
Additionally, Morcos mentioned briefing sessions on the new government's reform initiatives. These efforts are expected to culminate by year-end with the enactment of the "Financial Gap Law," marking the third major reform law approved by the cabinet in recent months, focusing on banking and reform sectors.
