Minister of Transport: The Need to Expand Outside Egypt, Especially in Africa


The Minister of Transport, Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, chaired the general assembly meeting of the Holding Company for Road, Bridge and Land Transport Projects, to present the financial position and income statements for the fiscal year 2023/2024. The total revenues of the holding company and its subsidiaries during the fiscal year 2022/2023 amounted to about 10.7 billion pounds.The total revenues of the holding company are only about 331.176 million people, an increase of approximately 72.8% over the previous fiscal year (2021/2022).

During the meeting, the company’s chairman reviewed the company’s activities, achievements and the most important projects that were implemented during the last period. It was reviewed that for the first time the budgets of the holding company and its subsidiaries did not witness significant losses, but rather those companies achieved profits. It is worth mentioning that a factory was purchased to produce concrete flanges for the high-speed train (RFI 260), and
a factory for concrete flanges (B70), in addition to purchasing new equipment for speedy completion.

During the meeting, Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir praised the performance of the the Holding Company’s chairman, Board of Directors, the Executive Managing Director and employees of the company and its affiliated companies in advancing work and completing a large number of projects that serve the citizens.

The minister emphasized the importance of implementing infrastructure projects in other sectors in the country and expanding in opening areas of work for the company outside Egypt, especially in Africa and the Arab countries. In addition to that, he highlighted the necessity of continuous qualification and training for engineers and technicians and the permanent and ongoing maintenance of the current equipment and devices of the Holding Company. He also focused on the importance of the continuous support for the companies with the latest equipment and devices. Moreover, he focused on the necessity
for the head of the holding company to hold meetings on an ongoing basis, follow up on the implementation plans for the projects implemented by the companies, pay attention to the necessity of implementation on the dates specified in the contracts without delay, and discuss any obstacles and work to solve them.
