Palestinian National Council discusses with Spanish Prime Minister the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza

RAMALLAH: The Speaker of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), Rawhi Fattouh, briefed today the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, on the latest developments regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people.

During the meeting, which was held in the Spanish capital, Madrid, Fattouh stressed the need to immediately halt the brutal aggression against innocent civilians, especially women and children, in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the entry of humanitarian aid including medicine, drinking water and basic materials.

Fattouh further called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and an end to the policy of forced displacement against the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, he affirmed that as the Israeli air raids on residential neighborhoods in various areas of the Gaza Strip continue for the 141 day, resulting in more than 30,000 people killed, the majority of whom are children, women, and the elderly. In addition, he said
the aggression has resulted in the massive destruction of homes and the denial of sufficient food and other essentials of life

Fattouh also highlighted the horrific and barbaric violations and attacks committed by Israeli army and extremist colonists in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, involving the seizure of lands, hindering access, and setting up mobile homes.

For his part, Sanchez called for the need to put an end to the Palestinians’ suffering in the Gaza Strip and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid, stressing that his country is working with all partners to halt “the bloody aggression.”
