PM, CBE governor review foreign-exchange reserves

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah reviewed Sunday a raft of issues related to coordination between the government and CBE to ensure availability of basic commodities.

During their meeting today, the two sides asserted their mutual willingness to maintain their coordination for ensuring availability of US dollar-related resources needed to buy basic commodities as well as production supplies for the industrial sector, according to a statement by Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad.

Madbouli and Abdullah emphasized that increasing foreign-exchange reserves is a top priority for both sides; therefore, efforts are under way for promoting dollar resources, by luring more foreign direct investments (FDIs), stimulating the tourism industry, and making use of a government tax-free car import initiative for expats.
